| Peace Goods is a fair trade handicrafts organization focused on fighting poverty through providing employment opportunities for artisans in developing countries. Peace Goods was started by returned Peace Corps volunteer, Kyley Schmidt, after she spent 2 1/2 years in Madagascar establishing a women's silk weaving cooperative. After returning to her home state of North Carolina in 2005, Kyley founded Peace Goods to help the weavers market their cloth in the U.S. Peace Goods is looking to grow by increasing sales outlets and by including crafts from other artisans groups. Kyley has a B.S. in Textile Technology and Design from NC State and is currently getting her M.B.A. from UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School. |
